Hi everyone,
My gf and I are hoping to be moving to London this summer. I'll be trying to get a job first (we actually won't go if I don't get a job) but my gf can't look until she has her visa, which would be just a few days before the move.
But we're already doing a little research into things (e.g., good sources of job ads) so that she can hit the ground running.
Her goal is to be a full-time editor for tv or movies or other productions. At this point she'd be looking for edit assistant level stuff.
She studied film as an undergrad and has an MA in Digital Arts; her focus in the latter was on digital video. So she has editing experience from both levels of school. She also has shooting and editing experience with a group of us who make short comedic movies. She knows Final Cut Pro, After Effects, Photoshop, and Illustrator (she's definitely the expert of our group).
However, it seems that this more informal experience does not help one get hired in editing (asst editor) in companies/organizations. So right now she is doing an edit assist type internship and is hoping to be hired by them soon. That will give her about 6 mos experience with a company before the potential move. They also have Avid, so she'll have some exposure to that.
Okay, that's enough background. Here are the questions:
Other than mandy.com and the guardian's media jobs ads, what are good internet job listings in this area? (ETA: I see there's a good list in the 'where to start' thread, so this one is not as important.)
Do agencies handle this kind of field? Any agencies that specialize in this?
Any other advice about looking for this kind of job?
TIA!
