If you're looking for an organic turkey this Christmas at a place near you, the Soil Association has a whole list of organic farmers that deliver. This bonus of this list is to see if there are any local farmers in your area that you might want to establish a relationship with.

Here's a list of local producers in the West Berkshire area.

This is an award-winning organic lamb farm near us: Langley Chase in Chippenham, Wiltshire. They will deliver.

I have to add http://www.abel-cole.co.uk it isn't strictly local, but they have a an excellent delivery service and range of products--all organic.

they deliver in London and the Home Counties and you don't have to be in to collect the delivery as long as you have a safe place to leave the products--very helpful for us working families!!!

One of the things I enjoy most about living here is the abundance of Farmers Markets both in the UK and all over Europe!  I love wandering around them looking at all the different varieties of veggies and such that I have never come across before.

My first and favourite Market to date is Borough Market!  We used to go there almost every week when I first moved here!  (a bit of a hike now that we moved out of London)  It is a food lovers paradise!  Lots of local produce as well as meat stalls and fishmongers.  I admit that some of it can be a bit pricey, but there are many things there that are worth it.  It is worth checking it out just to have a look around.  It is right near London Bridge Station.

Apparently, there is a very good farmers market in Stratford upon Avon, if you're near south Warks.

I cannot vouch for it personally because I've never been, although several of my friends frequent it.

In particular, there is a very good cheese monger, which I can vouch for because one friend in particular goes specifically to this guy.  She's served the goods up at many a dinner party...

Ooh, I am soo excited by this thread!  I just remembered that if you live in London and want an event catered, contact london farmer's markets at http://www.lfm.org.uk  They will put you in contact with a caterer who will provide food for up to 150 all from the local farmer's markets.  It is fantastic, excellent value and really makes internal catering companies mad!

A friend had recommended this company who are based in Leeds. They even do home deliveries but they also have a store in Leeds City Centre. My friend gets produce delivered to her house every week and it's always top grade stuff. I'm always nicking bananas and things from her. ;D

I'd recommend them for anyone who's in the Leeds area. The produce is very good.

I'll second the recomendation for organic delivery systems! We also use a box delivery service and the produce is always really good as is the milk that they also deliver! But if you're on the fence about it (as my hubs still is, actually) you should wait until Spring and you get more than parsnips! LOL, I'm so fricking sick of parsnips!!!!

I've heard the absolute best time to get boxes is actually late summer/early autumn. But that specifically applies to British produce which is at it's peak then. Some of the box schemes, such as Riverford here in the southwest, are cooperatives who work with both UK and international farmers. That way, during the 'boring' months, they can supplement with produce from other countries. Many of them have environmentally friendly shipping policies, too. In other words, they won't defeat the organic message by air freighting you apples from New Zealand.
When I was 5 years old, my mother always told me that happiness was the key to life. When I went to school, they asked me what I wanted to be when I grew up. I wrote down ‘happy’. They told me I didn’t understand the assignment, and I told them they didn’t understand life. ~ John Lennon

Not sure whereabouts in Scotland you are, Honeybee, but what about this place?
(I havent used them yet, but have been thinking about it for some time...)

Scroll down the page to where it says 'box scheme' and tells all the places in Scotland they deliver to, and what day of the week they do it...

I've just started going to the Richmond Farmer's Market. Haven't found a website yet but here is contact info:

Saturday: Richmond, farmers’ market, 11am-3pm, is weekly in Heron Square, next to the Old Town Hall, Whittaker Avenue. 020 8878 5132

It is small but has some great produce. I am a big fan of the cheese people, biltong people and the English wine guy. We got THE BEST beef and ale sausages from there and are addicts.

My boyfriend's parents live by a farm. They have a cart and they sell eggs, veggies and jams. Their eggs are amazingly tasty.
