YIKES!  What ARE you doing at work at 5am?  ARe you a gravedigger? ;)

nope, nothing that exciting LOL...work at NASA and live 45 min away through heavy trafic areas...  I come in early as peace of mind...  as well as living on other side of a bridge that gets very very backed up on friday's to get to the ocean...  so I work 4/10hour days during the summertime.

Good for you on the two-mile walk.  It's been so hot here that instead of taking the ferry over and walking the five or six blocks up to work, I've been taking the (air conditioned!) bus which involves no physical activity whatsoever!  But like I said, it's so freakin' hot and by the time I got to work, I felt like I needed another shower!

trust me...the humidity of this week has kept me from walking...  :( , please, please go away summertime on the east coast.

Ohhhhhhhhh, can't wait to get to NI!  They think it's a heat wave over there when it's 75 degrees out!

LOL, I know...  sometimes I wanna reach through the computer and pull Tom through and say...  HERE...  now you have heat...
I figure I will be happy for a good 5-6 years in northern England before I start to think 75 is a heat wave

I wish that were true!  I've only been here 2.5 years...and I come from Nashville TN where heat was *born*.  :)  And yet, already, anything over 70 feels stinkin' hot to me.  Sad but true!

(I haven't yet found that the cold has the same effect.  I don't find 40 in January unbearably cold where some people here do.)

And yes, it's friggin' hot here in London today!  Nearing 100F they are saying and I'm feeling it for sure.  It's just a whole differnet thing when there is *no* air conditioning around.  My office doesn't have it, the shops don't have it, and the tube *definitely* doesn't have it.

So enjoy the American summer while you can, Michele.  :)

Yes, I hear you are having a rough time of it in London right now...  and sorry to hear that... I know it would be horrible for me as I really hate the heat...  can you get blocks of ice over there?   sticking one in a bucket in front of the fan really does help.

as far as me enjoying american summer...NOT...never, can not do it...  actually the heat does not bother me...  it is the humidity at 95% all the time and the dew points in the high 70's.  but I get heat rashes...  little pricklies all over...  my eyes swell up and I am just completely miserable.

2.5 years eh... errrr!...  well maybe us being further up north that will stretch another 2.5 years for me???  I hope.

40 in winter is a breeze...

People do not think that maryland has that big of a weather change...  but summers here avg. 90+ w/100% humidity...  and winters avg. 35 deg...  here in maryland we can go a few winters without seeing any snow...  and turn around and have a winter like last one where we get a few feet...  or we can have a snowless winter with the avg temps in the teens for weeks on end.  it is a beautiful state...  but I hate the weather except in spring and fall.
