Moving within UK
« on: April 20, 2005, 07:25:32 AM »
DH has new job! We will be moving from Warwickshire to Cambridgeshire. This will be my first big move and I would appreciate any advice you can give me about removal companies, utilities, notices to quit and all that sort of stuff. When I moved from London, I had been a lodger so that was no big deal, and I had only suitcases with me! Now I've got furniture and loads of STUFF and I've been living in rented accommodation for nearly three years. Where do I begin? We've got four weeks!  :o

Where are you moving in Cambridgshire? That is where we lived, and my husband's family lives on the border of Cambs and Suffolk. I don't have any advice about removal companies as we always moved ourselves, we did use A1 boxes though and they were fantastic for ordering moving supplies on time.
I'm done moving. Unrepatriated back to the UK, here for good!

We are moving from London to Canterbury next weekend and had a similar amount of time to find a house there and oragise everything. We're using manandvan.com and I got all our packing boxes etc online.  You need to give 1 month's notice where you live now and inform the utility companies of your moving date. They will disconnect and send the final bills to your new address.  You will need to take meter readings on the day you move out.

Good luck with the move & your new home town!
