Finally - Bought the dream house and have moved in!
« on: May 04, 2005, 05:52:38 PM »
Hi all,

I haven't posted for a while but I'm back now with some good news!  We finally decided where we wanted to live and found our dream house there...so we're now home owners in Brixham, Devon!  I'm so excited...we really love it there and it all worked out without any problems.   ;D I wanted to make sure we were safely in before posting (didn't want to jinx it!).

We even have built in friends in our new place as Barbara_G and her DH live just a few miles down the road which is the frosting on the cake for me! :)

Both DH and I were able to sort it out with our company to allow us to work from home so we could pretty much go anywhere within the UK to live...so we chose Devon.  It's really a great benefit..they're setting up our offices in our home with all the needed furniture and office equipment.  We're really pleased with it and are happy that some good stuff is now coming our way after a really horrible year.  LisaE, I'm open to advice about how to keep your relationship with DH on an even keel when you're working right next to each other!  I don't foresee any problems as he's a sweetie but I'm sure there are some helpful tips you have from your experience of a husband and wife working together in close proximity.  We had been working in the same office building previously but were at opposite sides of the building so it will be a change!

Anyway, enough of my going on but I just wanted to share this with you all.

Next big step....we get a couple of dogs!

Hugs,

Sandy

Hey Sandy!  I have been hearing about the move through Barbara and am glad to finally have you down this way!  Devon is indeed wonderful!

I am happy you found the right home.

What kind of dogs are you thinking about getting?

Thanks Pamela!  I know you're closeby as well so I hope we'll be able to get together in the not too distant future!

We're looking to get a Border Terrier for me and a Hungarian Vizla for Keith.  Just waiting to get summer holidays over with before getting puppies...wouldn't be fair to leave them so soon.

Hey... our neighbor has a Vizla... they often have visitor ones too.  I can ask her for the breeders name if you like.  :)

They are lovely animals.... we are looking at getting a English Springer.  Just need to find the right breeder.

Thanks you guys...I think things are starting to go our way now.

Pam, that'd be really helpful if you could get some breeder info. for us...thanks!  I hope you're able to get some good info. on Springer Spaniels too.  A friend did provide a website link where he was able to locate a breeder for his dog...the webaddress is www.epupz.co.uk.

Wishstar...I'll pass on any homeworking tips when I find them....please let me know of anything you find helpful as well!

Congrats on the new house & lifestyle, sounds idyllic and may I wish you well.

O/T slightly, I read the posts about the dogs and wanted to share this link with you:

http://champdogs.co.uk/

There are some very well respected breeders, show judges etc on this forum and people that farm puppies don't get far there.  Another tip, let the non-american do the initial talking/enquiring, an American accent can often raise prices quite quickly- horrid but true.

Good luck
:)

Thanks New-Dawn, we'll check out the site.  We'll use your tip about letting English hubby do the talking.  I'd not thought about my accent making a difference but I'm not surprised!  We're checking things out now and hope to have our dogs my the end of the summer!

Thanks Liz, we're happy to finally be here and be settled in!  I don't want to move again until they put me in the old folks home! :D
