Hi everyone..

To all those who were incredibly helpfull with my quiries about the EEC1 application form and the wait time, i am delighted to say that hubby and i have finally got our residents permit.

On to my Q.
For the last 8 months my relatives back in CA had been forwarding all our U.S. credit card and other important correspondance stuff to us here in London...but they are no longer able to do that and i need advice as to the most economical way to get our mail forwarded to London.

I know that USPS will not forward internationally, is anyone currently using a forwarding system ?
Will credit card companies mail replacement cards overseas ? Or does it depend on each credit card company ?

I do have a USPS mail box in CA that i kept for all matters of correspondance but my in-laws always forwarded the mail to us in UK and they will no longer be able to do this for us .

Any advice is greatly appreciated.
Cheers
Zu.

Unless USPS has changed their policy since I moved, they will forward for one year.......free of charge!

I think US issued credit card companies expect you to have a US address.  I don't they allow you to have an address abroad.

Really? When did this happen? I had my mail transferred free for a year also.

Nope... I just moved last year and they are forwarding it...

so.. no idea why they would not do yours...

I know that somewhere on UKY there was a link for a mail service that would bundle and send your mail to your for a monthly fee.

I contacted my US credit card companies and banks directly and had them change my address to my UK address.  I was told at my US Post Office that they wouldn't forward mail internationally. Some expats have been able to get mail forwarded; I suppose it depends on the particular post office.

Either way, as has been said earlier, the Post Office only forwards mail for a limited amount of time.  So I would contact anyone important directly and make sure they have your correct address.

Thanks a mill yoo guys.

I guess i will notify my credit card companies and see if USPS will forward my mail if i just put a foreign forwarding address on their forms..it seems like it depends which branch one is dealing with but being a federal outfit i would have thought they should all have the same guideline.

Any more input on this issue is greatly appreciated.

BTW if anyone can recommend a tried and tested private forwarding company please let me know..my U.S. address is in Berkeley CA.
Cheers
Zu
