what is your weekly food spends??
« on: June 15, 2005, 12:15:03 AM »
Our food was delivered this afternoon and by this evening the fridge is nearly empty :o
On the average we spend a good £60-70 a week and that's not including my foods spends when I am in uni or in placement. I don't really spend money on junk foods (ie crisps , chocolates , prepackaged meals or snacks).  So what's your weekly food spends? Do you find you over endulge or have a fairly sensible lifestyle?
But never fear, gentlemen; castration was really not the point of feminism, and we women are too busy eviscerating one another to take you on.

I'm very sensible, except for the occasional bottle of wine and some low-fat ice cream.  I spend about $55 a week, but it's just me in the house.  I shop every two weeks so I bring home a TON when I go.  I eat Cheerios with skim milk every morning, eggs on the weekend.  Lunch is a Lean Cuisine and a yogurt with water, and dinner is whatever I pull out of the fridge, usually a pasta of some sort with a veggie.  Sometimes I'll make a roast or chicken, or on Fridays some salmon.

I also don't eat out, hardly ever anymore, so that helps a ton.

I've been able to loose over 25lbs with this routine too!  With a little help from Pilates!  ;)

We spend roughly £80 or £90 per week on food... this includes beer.    I feel like we spend too much for 2 people, but all my attempts at cutting back/ economising  have failed so far.   :(

I used to only spend £60 per week for two adults and two small boys. Now that im on my own with the boys, I spend £45 per week - although that's due to eating loads of fruit and salad these days rather than anything indulgent and exciting. ;)

We spend about £50 per week for 2 adults and a 9 month old (not including baby formula and jars of baby food).  That's our basic grocery shopping, sometimes buy extra luxury stuff or fresh fruit on top of that.

I know what you mean ...it's only 3 people and yet by wensday the fridge is empty...the bread , cheese, milk ..gone . Hubs will eat a box of cereal on his own if you let him...I've tried to put the reins on it but never works. Anyone managed to figure out a cut back on weekly spends??

I cut back on non food items like loo paper & cleaning stuff - buy the cheaper brands or get it from the £1 shop or somewhere like that.  It's hard to cut back on food without compromising quality.

£50 for two adults and one small child.  We eat well, but cook all but about 5% of it from scratch.

Possibly £70 to £80 a week for 3.  I can't really tell as I go to Costco once a month and hit the local Morrison/Safeway 2 or 3 times a week, as well as the local market every Saturday.  I've come to loath shopping a full shop as the stores ALWAYS seem packed with people who dither.   ::)

We spend about £60-£90 for 2 people plus 4 cats for 7 days. But not only does that include litter and catfood, but washing up soap and those sorts of things. Some weeks are worse than others for all that stuff. We're also pretty fussy and try to buy the highest quality we can on our limited budget (i.e I won't buy cheap sausages or non-organic chicken). We never buy ready meals (though sometimes fishcakes or frozen chips) and I make probably 98% of our meals. right now I'm trying to buy things like loo roll and staples at Asda (which I hate but on our budget, the prices are right). Then we buy our meat and fish from the local butcher/fish monger and our fruit and veg from either the local green grocer or the market.

I spend from £70-£80 a fortnight with a £10 milk/fruit/veg topup for 2 adults and 2 children.

The best way I economise is to take advantage of Tesco clubcard points and vouchers.  I have been getting £5-£10 off my shopping with vouchers and adding all the other points I regularly get £15-£20 off my fortnightly shop.

We spend around £100 per week on shopping for four people.  That doesn't include the extra top ups of milk and salad.

I find I can better control the amount I spend by shopping online.

There's four of us, including a teenager.  We spend probably about £200-£250 a month total.  We do a LARGE shop about every 3 weeks or so at Sainsburys, with little top-ups of milk and bread and fresh veg about 2-3 times a week.  We also do a shop at Lidl about every 4-5 weeks, where I stock up on juice, tinned stuff, rice & pasta, frozen pizza and treats like ice lollies and chocolates.
