Travel: Ourselves & Our Stuff

We are going Aer Lingus to Manchester to get to Northallerton....

But we are not sure how to ship our things. I was thinking International Sea Freight would be the most affordable. Most of whats going over with us is our books, which are small but quite heavy. Any ideas?
Moving to Northallerton in August with my partner, James for our Master's programs. Eventually we would like to work and move to UK.

If you're not shipping furniture, etc., USPS is usually the way to go.  I shipped 10 boxes over for $660 via airmail, which took about 2 weeks.  Surface mail is a bit cheaper, but could take up to 10 weeks, so you'll need to budget that time into your plans.

Were they large boxes? Did they weigh much?
We will need to ship our computer, printer, sewing machine and all our books over. I think it might be cheaper to bring my laptop and ship everything else freight....

Such a headache!  :)
