Married to a Californian
« on: September 08, 2003, 02:28:32 PM »
Hi, please excuse a Brit butting in but I have a very homesick American husband!! He's been living here with me since May and, like many of you it seems, he is badly missing good, cheap Mexican food - I have taken him to nearly every Mexican/Tex-Mex place in London but as you probably know nothing quite measures up! If anyone knows if/ where one can buy Tostitos salsa in London or anywhere in the UK please do let me know.

Thanks
Liz ;)

Hi Liz.  Welcome to the forum!  :)

Have you tried Cafe Pacifico near Covent Garden?  I've eaten there a couple of times and found the Mexican food better than expected!

Good luck on your search for totstitos salsa.  YOu might be able to order it online from one of the expat shops.

Thanks Wishstar .. no haven't tried that one yet but now I've got a positive recommendation that'll be next on our list... :) We did find a very good place down in Greenwich but, alas, that is a bit of a hike from where we live in North London.

Have looked at a LOT of online expat shops for Tostitos but no luck so far ... I'll keep trying.

Meanwhile my husband's new addiction for Indian food is growing ... at least we can find that!

By the way, for any lovers of English pubs, there are a couple of very cute ones in Belgravia that we just discovered ... The Grenadier in Wilton Pl and the Nags Head in Kinnemont St (please excuse spelling, was a bit squiffy after a lot of Pimms and cider so didn't take too much notice of street signs) ... I would highly recommend both of these if you happen to have friends visiting from the US who want to go to a traditional English pub.

Welcome Liz,

I don't have much to add except that online shopping is a great way to find the things that keep my UK hubby happy in the USA.  I imagine I will be doing the same once I get there.  Particularly when it comes to Mexican. :-)

Best of Luck!

Hi Liz, welcome to the site.  Its great to meet you.  Will your husband be writing as well?  Where does he hail from in the states?  How long has he been with you in London?  Hope you enjoy the site.  It has such great information.  Let us know if we can be of help.

Thanks for all the welcomes!! My husband is from Southern California, hence the homesickness for Mexican food! Not to mention baseball. Yes I am sure he'll be on here soon, great site, I have learned loads already and everyone's so friendly!  :)

Thanks Shel and Wench, it is nice to feel so welcome! I have a feeling I'll be searching the UK for that salsa for a while but I have managed to arrange for a tiny shipment from Washington via a friend's weekend bag in the meantime.  Shel I see you've got your big day coming up ... I wish you all the best for that and for your move over here.

Hi Liz and welcome to UKY!  Sorry I'm a bit tardy on my welcome but it's no less enthusiastic!  You've sent some nice wishes my way already and thanks for those!  Hope you'll post often!!! :D
