Thanks everyone for your help and good advice.
My husband went to the Chicago consulate with a glut of paperwork to prove that we are 'in love' married and wasn't asked for anything except the marriage certificate!! He arrived here in the UK on the 12th June and got a job 3 weeks later with an engineering firm...the only problem we have now is that he can't open a bank account or become joint on mine until he has proof of identity apart from his passport...they need his tax code and that could take a few more week to happen!! He's adjusting slowly and has finally got the hang of the roundabouts which were proving to be a little stressful for me as a passenger!
