I use planet talk, www.planet-talk.co.uk, 2.5p/min to the USA landlines, you can use it with your mobile too, but I don't know the rates. Might be the 2.5p/min plus the charge from your mobile operator to connect to planet talk. ???

I know that recently the post office has offered prepaid calling cards at i think 3 pence per minute. I need to look into it. We have NTL and it costs a few pence more but it had the best all around deal- landline, high speed internet, and a bit more than basic digital cable all for £30. My last bill was £50, but I made alot of calls home.

AOL's long-distance service is 2p per minute. You pay a monthly rate, then it's 2p for all calls. (Land-line calls within the UK are free anytime as well).

Molly uses onetel, talks for ages and rarely cost us over a tenner a month.  We don't use anything else now (you can use it from mobiles too).

We use Toucan. You have to be a BT customer to subscribe for their service. Now they offer a plan that gives you unlimited calls to the US for only £9.99 a month. I think this has to be on top of another plan with them but if you're calling a lot, it's a good deal.
