British Citizen Passport Question

This has probably been asked a 1000 times before but...... (and I may have even answered it myself  but bandwidth being whati it  is and many full moons ago )........Does anyone know (or remember)  how long it takes for a Renewal l( Amended) Passport Application (Name Change) to process in the U.K?......Wanna book up for a holiday in November but my wife's (British) passport expires ( in her previously  married name)  in October and I'd like to book-up ASAP online for "economical" reasons.(90 days advanced and all that happy stuff )......They want the name as it appears on the passport (at travelling time)..........any help out there?

I think it's three weeks.  You can't just show up at the passport office anymore though to get it in one day.  You have to make an appt. and pay an arm and a leg. 

Mailed it in last Tuesday (30/8/05).......got the supporting documents back Saturday (3/9/05) and received the amended passport today (6/9/05)....one week from start to finish......well chuffed with that .......I recommend anyone doing it to pay the extra 3 quid for courier service.......well worth it.
