Anyone ever been?  What is it like?  Is there a lot to do?  See?  Is there public transport?

Thanks!

Are you visiting or moving there?

I'm not sure about the public transportation but it's a nice city. The thing that I always noticed most was how clean it is! I can't say much more about it though because the only times I went up there was to go to the bars when I was 19/20.  :P

Yes.....its a wonderful city! Very pretty....lovely gardens, great shopping, nice boutiques, outdoor cafes, nice restaurants and pubs. I don't remember public transport because we stayed in the heart of things so did alot of walking (left the car at the hotel). There are great bike paths throughout the city and around/in the gardens. Bike rentals are everywhere, if the weather is good I recommend it!  We were only there for two days before heading to the Banff mountains and Calgary. I am sure you will really like it alot!  ;)

Thank you!

I might be going, not sure.  My husband might have to go for five weeks next month.  If so, I am thinking of going with him.  We will know in a few days.

GREAT city!  And a great day-trip from there is Victoria.  LOADS to do and see, I go a couple times a year when in the states.

Easy transportation, great urban center.  They win loads of awards for design and easy urban living.  The old Gas Town area is great!

You are also near Whistler there, which is where the 2006(?) winter olympics are being held.

I give it three thumbs up!

Vancouver is nice, but Victoria is AWESOME! When we lived in Canada, we'd go through the Rockies (staying in Jasper or Banff on the way) and end up in Victoria for a couple of weeks! I'd love to go back!!

I second belindaloo's victoria comment.  i'm a bit biased as my sister lives in victoria, but it's a lovely sized city, interseting shopping, beautiful scenery, hiking, kayaking, ferring, etc. great weekend break (now if it wasn't so far away from the UK)...

It's been years since I was there, but I remember the Butchart Gardens being spectacular! And the antiquing in Victoria was awesome, too! (If you're into gardens and antiques ... which I am ;) )

Any updated tips?

Wow this is an old thread ;D  We never made it to Victoria, but I hear it's a must from everyone.  We went up to Whistler and it was gorgeous.  I was ill with Morning Sickness when I was there, so I didn't do as much as I wanted to.

I thought if anything this would be a good flashback to the past for you.  ;)

Penticton's a nice little town to visit - its on Lake Okanagan and a few hours drive away.  Its very touristy, but nice and peaceful nonetheless.  You might just get to see Ogopogo if you're lucky!   ;)

A lot of TV shows & movies are filmed in Vancouver - if you're a SciFi fan that's where show's like the Stargate franchise & Eureka are filmed (not that I'm a SciFi geek or anything).   [smiley=angel.gif]

Vancouver is great!  Granville Island is my favourite place - also Capilano.

Public transport sucks though.  You pretty much have to drive.

I'll second the okanagan.  My sister has a cottage just outside of Vernon.  It is so nice.

Ah, summers in Vernon, Penticton and Kelowna! I loved that area!

But Victoria is still my favourite. We always stayed at the Empress and my parents would go off doing parenty things, leaving me to be 'babysat' by all the waiters! They taught me how to do some pretty cool napkin folding!  ;D
