Funny James Bond story
« on: August 31, 2005, 12:11:09 AM »

Funny story--and a reality check.

I was in the the airport at Heathrow. The crazy HB and I. The customs officer asked me who I was travelling with....

I said, "Bond. James Bond."

He laughed and stamped us through. My husband was standing behind me and grinning.

So, don't worry. You will get through with comedy.

"The artist is not a person endowed with free will who seeks his own ends, but one who allows art to realize its purposes through him. As a human being he may have moods and a will and personal aims, but as an artist he is 'man' in a higher sense - he is 'collective man', a vehicle and molder of the unconscious psychic life of mankind"

I'm not willing to take that chance. I just smile and answer their questions. It maybe all in fun for you, but not fun for me to think I may have my butt turned around and heading back home if things don't go right! I am all for humor, spend more time laughing than most people I know, but sometimes it's best in my opinion to just play by the rules.

That's awesome. I always have this feeling that everyone in customs despises me and would kill rather than deal with immigrants. So I doubt I'd kid with them but if it works then how wonderful :D I'm sure some love the humour in an otherwise monotonous job!

I'm not so sure. When did this happen, Seagoddess? I'd think that in today's political climate, joking might not be looked upon so kindly. Perhaps when you tried it, it was OK, but I think SillySnip is right -- to be on the safe side, just answer their questions, smile and move on.
