Ice cube.... bags
« on: October 04, 2003, 12:39:50 AM »
I bought my first box of ice cube bags today, because hubby broke our last ice cube tray and thought the bags would be more hygenic. ::)

Please, tell me we did not have these back home, because I sure as heck never saw them before. [smiley=confused.gif]

I had to read the directions a few times, didn't believe it would seal itself, but it did, and it was ..... weird. I've been weirded out by an alien baggie.  And then I had to figure out how to get the ice out, when the box seemed to indicate they'd break apart and sit in the bag all nice. :P

Food Talk? well, it's ice, it goes in your drink... I dunno. ::)

I bought ice bags back when we had a tiny freezer and I didn't think they would seal themselves either.  Nor had I ever seen such a thing back home.

When we graduated to a bigger freezer I stopped using the ice bags because the cubes were so dinky.  :-/

To break them apart, take a tea towel and hold the bag, then kind of um, tug it gently, and it should give some pops....then you just have to keep shifting and tugging until they are loose in the bag, then rip a hole and pour on out.

;D

LOL, my mother in law just figured this out the other day after using them for absolute yonks.  She was very pleased with herself.  :D

Opposite ends....really just grasp and tug, it sounds bizarre, but once you get it to work you'll know exactly what I mean...and mebbe you can come up with a better way of explaining it. ;D

Today hubby pops a "cube" out of the bag, by ripping the bag, and saying how easy it is now, he's used them for years.

"if you've used them for years, why don't you know how to get them out properly?"

lol

But, for the price of a bag of ice cube baggies, 15 for 99p, can't you buy one of those big bags of ice cubes from the USA convenience store? ;) They are cool, I agree. But they do create more rubbish, and not very environmentally friendly are they. :-/

OMG ice cube bags are like one of my fave things here....those are just sooo awesome...what an idea!  I just had to send some back to the States to my family & friends, they thought i was nuts when i tried to explain about them.

I have never heard of ice cube bags. What are they? How do they work?

Ice cube bags are definitely one of those things that the Americans can learn from. Those and roundabouts. Maybe just too hard to figure?
