Time limit on U.S. Postal Order?
« on: September 05, 2005, 02:00:33 PM »
In turning out some files I've discovered a U.S. Postal Order dated 1/17/02 which it seems I never got around to sending over to my bank.  Oops!

Does anybody know if there's a time limit for deposting/cashing a U.S. postal order?

It's not one of the "international" (pink?) ones, just a regular green type, negotiable only within the U.S. & possessions.

 2.0 Cashing Money Orders
2.1Validity and Value

Domestic money orders are paid regardless of the time passed since their issue. Money orders are not interest-bearing instruments; they are paid only in the exact amount imprinted up to the authorized maximum amount. USPS records serve as the basis for adjudicating claims for payment of money orders.

Thanks!   I'll get it in the mail.

It's only $79, so I don't think I'll cry over the lack of interest.   :)
