Hello, new here with a few questions
« on: September 19, 2005, 01:48:20 AM »
My wife and I are in our early 30's and considering moving to Scotland from Chicago, specifically the Stirling/Denny area.  Her mother and grandmother were born in Scotland.  Does this automatically make her eligible for a visa to move there?  And then me as her husband by default?  She has family in these areas and we just want to do something different with our lives.  Any thoughts?  Thank you.  We have been for a two week vacation on our honeymoon.

Your wife may be eligible for British citizenship if her mother is a British citizen.  If she becomes a British citizen you can then apply for a visa as the spouse of a British citizen.

Sounds like your wife can apply for registration as a British citizen as the adult child of a British mother.  Check out this link:  http://www.ind.homeoffice.gov.uk/ind/en/home/applying/british_nationality/application_forms/guide_to_registration.html

There are several of us on this board that have gone through this process....fairly painless!  ;)  You would then be able to apply for a spousal visa.
When I am grown-up I will understand how BEAUTIFUL it feels to administrate my life effectively.

Until then I will continue to TORCH all correspondence that bores me and to dance NAKED over the remnants of its still glowing embers.
