Glad you found some!

Mindy,

How do you get that booklet "how to fit in and make friends in your new community" sounds like something I could use. :)
Be true to yourself.

Kitty, looks like you might have read the first chapter without realizing. Hanging out here/posting and reading is the first step! Sure was a huge boost to me getting along at the beginning...and continues to be a great source even though I now feel at home.

Kitty101, Hi!  -- for me, it's just taken a lot of time.  The English instinct tends to be to stand back and watch for a while (just to see if you sink or swim! ;D), but secondly there is a huge generosity, warmth and depth there waiting.

It's been a great Halloween - we had over 30 trick-or-treaters :).  There was a real family atmosphere about it this year -- mom, dad (one dressed as the Grim Reaper!) and even granddad in an electric scooter came along.
I've just pigged out on all the remaining candy and feel as sick as a parrot... :P

Happy Halloween to you all! :D

(Love these pumpkin smilies.)

I need a book or something to tell me where all these trick-or-treaters are!  Ads for new flats should read, "Great access to public transport, local amenities and approx. 30-40 Trick-or-Treaters each year!"

'Cos we havent had a single one in my whole time here. :'(

We had a record 16 trick or treaters.  ALL in costumes.  Had one bunch of little kids-so that was fun.  Looking forward to next year even more.   :)

We had a record 5 trick-or-treaters - last year we had 3, the year before none.

So it isn't only there that we wait in vain for the knock on the door.....

Wishstar, that's a shame!  -- I know for the years I lived in London I only ever had one trick-or-treater (wearing a bin bag!).
Maybe all the commercialism is helping spread the word.  Funny, this year everyone knew to say "trick-or-treat", while last year it was pure improvisation like "got any cigarettes?", "how about some money?"...  ;D

Cheers, Moose
