Maybe a karoke(sp?) contest?. Its been a long time since I was 10 but usually girls that age are starting to get into makeup and trying to pamper themselves, so maybe they could have a makeover contest?

Or maybe set a theme to the party? and have games surronding the theme? Like if you were to do a Survivor theme. You could have the girls do tasks and missions similiar, although not as bad, as they would on survivor and etc?

My 11yo just went to a birthday party...they went swimming (still hot here), painted each other's nails, and tie-dyed t-shirts.  I think the make-up/pampering thing is a good idea if it's ok w/the mother.  My 11yo doesn't get to wear any cosmetics except lip gloss out in public, but she LOVES to experiment w/eye makeup, blush, lipstick, etc., whenever she gets the chance.  Something 'crafty' also often goes over well.  The tie-dye was a big hit, but other ideas might be decorating notebooks/journals, pillowcases, aprons, handbags, picture frames, etc....something that they can use again.
When I am grown-up I will understand how BEAUTIFUL it feels to administrate my life effectively.

Until then I will continue to TORCH all correspondence that bores me and to dance NAKED over the remnants of its still glowing embers.

My sister in law just held a party for a load of 10 year old girls - she had fabric paints and other assorted craft items (glitter, etc) out and they all painted shirts and pillowcases, and had a blast (also a mess!) doing it. Plus they got to take their new stuff home with them.
I'm done moving. Unrepatriated back to the UK, here for good!

Thanks for the ideas... i'll pass them on.   :)

For the main part of the party, they are going to a ceramics painting place, where the girls can pick some sort of little statue or ornament, and paint it themselves.   My friend is just looking for a couple of games (rather than craft ideas or activities) that they can do before/after the ceramics painting thing... she's going to have them do a Truth or Dare kind of thing, and is just struggling to think of some other sort of wee game...

My 10 yo duaghter and her friends get some passing amusement out of playing 'Consequences'.  Has the advantage of only needing pen & paper and it can last as long as they like.
