Things to take to the interview!
« on: September 28, 2005, 10:41:15 PM »
I'm going to take my passport and marriage certificate... But, do you think they know what to do about temporary national insurance numbers? Should I print something out to take? How do they get a temporary NIN for you? This hwole process confuses me.

It's TN, then your birthday (day, month, last 2 digits of year), then M or F, depending on whether you are male or female.

I was born on 14 Aug, 1965, so my temp number was TN140865F.

I didn't need to show my NIN till after I was hired, though, so I don't know if you'll need it for an interview. I suppose it doesn't hurt to have it with you.

you might think about taking the letter you recieved with your visa.  the one that says you can work live etc...
If you harbour bitterness, happiness will dock elsewhere.

But don't freak out if you didn't get a letter with your visa....not everyone gets one.

Well, in general, if you have the letter, taking it is a good idea. Because the stamp  doesn't say that you can work, it just doesn't say that you can't work, so that might be unclear to an employer. I also use the letter because it shows that my FLR gets extended to ILR as long as my husband and I are still married, so the employer doesn't think I can only staying temporarily because my FLR expires in less than 2 years.

I didn't get a letter, but I'll print off something from the visa website that says what my visa means.
