Argh! Where is he hiding stuff?!?!
« on: September 29, 2005, 03:50:44 AM »
So, does anybody else have a little one who seems to make things disappear?

My boy's only 16 months old, but things have been going missing for MONTHS. One morning, I simply couldn't find my keys. This was before he was a year old, well before he was walking. I know they were in the house - I was still at home!

They have never turned up. I've clearned this house - from top-to-bottom, even cleaning for overnight guests - and never found them.

 ???

Bottles and sippy cups all go missing, constantly. Every once in a while I'll see him toting around some cup that I haven't seen in a while and, when I get it from him, it's full of DISGUSTING things, and all I can wonder is "OH MY! Did he DRINK any of that?"

Right now, I'm getting worried about a DVD I rented a few days ago. Can't find it! Eeek!

What the heck does he DO with this stuff?

My Jack Jack does this. He is nearly 16 months old.
We have a large space between our bay window and our couch. First thing he does when he goes into the living room is throw all the cushions off the couch and sits there surrounded by nothing as if it's his throne. Anything that even comes close to him gets thrown behind the couch between the window and the couch. I have found keys, remote controls, shoes, MY underwear (still dont know how he found that!) and even cookies! Chances are your little one has a secret hiding place also. :)

Yes we lose stuff all the time but in Ethan's case I think it is more random throwing stuff aound than hiding things.  Mostly it goes under the sofa and behind the TV and there's a little gap between the door and floor on one of our cupbards where he likes to slide things, I've found all sorts of things there.

But never fear, gentlemen; castration was really not the point of feminism, and we women are too busy eviscerating one another to take you on.

Remarkably, I've had no problems with Niall taking things and hiding them; it's the 17 year old that is the problem.

Tweezers gone?  Josh did it.  Scissors missing?  Josh did it.  Expensive face cream missing?  Guess who did it!  Lint brush, car keys, and the list goes on.  Grrrrrrrrrrrrr!

Philip is almost 18 months old, but started his hiding habit ages ago. Just recently we found one of his spots.... behind the couch! And I found a sippy cup that was AT LEAST 3 months old, because we had stopped using that kind that long ago. I picked the thing up and HORRIBLE ROTTEN MILK came shooting out of the top like a fountain, and we had to leave the apartment after I cleaned it up because I couldn't get rid of the smell!!! He still lvoes hiding things, but since we are in an apartment I have now - after months - found his favorite hiding places. Right now his favorite places are in the drawer uder the stove where I keep cookie sheets, and in tissue boxes.
I'm done moving. Unrepatriated back to the UK, here for good!

I keep finding my shoes at the bottom of his toy box, puzzle pieces in the pots, and sippy cups in the laundry basket.  Important things we started putting up before he was mobile, but the remote or the cordless goes missing from time to time.  These usually end up under the computer.  The weirdes thing is he keeps losing his pacifier and then shows up with it a few days latter.  I know one was in a shoe in the closet.  Also, he never gets anything but water in his sippy cup when he's out of his chair.  He figured out how to get the top off once and made a fun puddle to play in.  Luckly, he keeps forgetting how to get the top off.
Dream a dream of England .......... Some day

Gawd, I couldn't imagine it if mine were a girl.  It would probably be twice as bad.  You definitely have my sympathy!
