Shoes please.
« on: October 02, 2005, 10:15:41 PM »
Hi everyone,

I've been living in London for a few weeks now, and I'm in dire need of some new shoes.  In the states I bought shoes at Payless (I may not be as fashionable, but I travel more for the money saved!).  Is there any equivalent of Payless Shoes here?   ??? Any tips on where to find cheaper clothes here would be welcome too!  Thanks!

Primark for shoes and clothes...really cute stuff, not expensive at all!

There used to be a chain called "Shoefayre" that was quite like Payless.  However, I think that they may have gone out of business, at least in Scotland where I was living.  Barratt's usually has pretty good quality shoes for a decent price.  In general, I've never had good luck shopping at Primark for shoes -- they always fit me quite irregularly and I don't think they were of the best quality.

Ohh, there is a place in my town (I'm sure it's a chain) that sells shoes for less.  Of course I can't remember the name, but when I get back in a couple of weeks, I'll look for you.  (You will probably have found something by then though)

We still have a Shoefayre or two here in the area of Kent I live in.

I ditto Primark or Peacocks for inexpensive shoes.  I bought ankle boots from Peacocks my first winter here - wore them all the time, and am wearing them today, 3 years later!  So they must be pretty good quality.

There's a cheap shoe shop on Finchley Road in Swiss Cottage - shoes for £10 each.  Some seem quite cute!

For clothing - you can go to Primark, Matalan or TK-Maxx (similar to TJ Maxx).
