:-[This is one of many "first" for me so please forgive any mistakes I make.I became a widow almost 2yrs ago and it's taken me some time to recover.I'm starting the next chapter of my life by moving to London to help a friend with her children.I've never live outside of South Carolina so this is exciting and scarey for me!I hope this site has many answers that I need.

One question I do have is about meeting other single people my age or older.I'm very close to my friend and her family but their life evolves around their family and married friends and I don't won't to feel like a 5th wheel. Also, is their a fairly safe website to meet single people in the uk??? thank you  Angela :-[ :-[

Hi shyamericangirl! Welcome to UKY. :) Sorry I don't know any good websites for singles in the UK but maybe somebody else on here could help you. We've got a lot of really nice helpful people here.

You don't have to be shy or worry about making mistakes..I promise we don't bite. ;) I hope to see you posting more in the future. :)

Hi Angela and welcome to UKY. Sounds like you are going to be set for an adventure!  When are you planning on leaving for the UK?

As for meeting people it depends on what you are looking for.  Several people here have acutally met each other online both romantically through other sites and just friendships on here.

Best of luck in the future!

Hi Angela!  Welcome to UKY!  :)

I'm sure you'll meet some great people through this site, and I can assure you we're pretty safe as long as you don't get between us and our Krispy Kremes.  ;)

There are a few good websites for meeting other people in London.  I've seen ads for them on the tube several times.

Here's a site for one of them:

http://www.entertaininglondon.co.uk

And another one I've heard of is:

http://www.alikeminds.com

Best of luck to you in your move.  I know it is a very exciting, terrifying time, but you'll find lots of support and good info here that will make things easier.  Hope to see you around lots!

Hi Angela, it's a pleasure to meet you.  Glad you found us here.  You're making a really bold choice in your life.  How exciting!  I'm doing that too.  I've never lived outside of Boston before.  Your mind surely does split between two things.  Being so excited about all the new things in life and thinking you're sorta crazy for ever considering such a thing!  Actually I think on this site you'll find a few like minded people.  Welcome to the site.

Hi Angela

Welcome and good luck for your move to the UK! What area of the UK will you be in? I don't think you'll have too much trouble making single friends, just look out for clubs and events in your area that might interest you and if you are in the country there is bound to be a cosy little community pub.

Let us know if you need any help or advice.

Liz
