Leaving On A Jet Plane - John Denver

--

I'm going where the sun keeps shining
Thru' the pouring rain
Going where the weather suits my clothes
Backing off of the North East wind
Sailing on summer breeze
And skipping over the ocean like a stone

Everybody's Talking at Me - Nilsson
also Madeleine Peyroux covered it recently and she covered "You're Gonna Make Me Lonesome" too  :)

You saved your own special friend
'Cuz here you need something to hide her in
And you stay inside that foolish grin
When everyday now secrets end
Oh and then again

Sorry, I didn't mean that to be a hard one.  It was Rickie Lee Jones "On Saturday Afternoons in 1963".

How about this one instead?

Whatever happened
To Tuesday and so slow
Going down the old mine
With a transistor radio
Standing in the sunlight laughing,
Hiding behind a rainbow's wall,
Slipping and sliding
All along the water fall, with you
doing laundry

one of my favourite songs brown eyed girl by van driver er sorry morrison  ;D ;D ;D

There's a reason for the sunshiny sky
There's a reason why I'm feeling so high
Must be the season when those love lights shine all around us
So let that feeling grab you deep inside
And send you reeling where your love can't hide
And then go stealing through the moonlit night with your lover
its a far better thing i do than i have ever done

Here Comes the Sun - The Beatles (one of my faves)

---

Outside in the distance a wildcat did growl,
Two riders were approaching, the wind began to howl.

Bob Dylan again - All Along the Watchtower

You don't have to put on the red light
Those days are over
You don't have to sell your body to the night

Roxanne - The Police

I took the money, I spiked your drink
You miss too much these days if you stop to think
You led me on with those innocent eyes
And you know I love the element of surprise
In the garden I was playing the tart
I kissed your lips and broke your heart

Until the End of the World - U2

Oh the torn up ticket stubs
From a hundred thousand mugs
Now washed away with dead dreams in the rain
And the car-parks going up
And they're pulling down the pubs
And it's just another bloody rainy day

Awww, nobody knows the Pogues?  I love White City.

How about this one?

Somebody once told me the world is gonna roll me
I ain't the sharpest tool in the shed
She was looking kind of dumb with her finger and her thumb
In the shape of an "L" on her forehead

Ummm.... Smashmouth... can't remember the name of the song, though...
gonna google.... ok, All Star... sorry I had to google, but at least I knew the band!   8)

All I can say
Is that my life is pretty plain
I like watching the puddles
Gather rain
And all I can do
Is just pour some tea for two
And speak my point of view
But it's not sane
It's not sane

Blind Melon - Rain
(I had a friend who used to sing "All I can say is that my song is pretty lame...")  ;)  :D

There is freedom within, there is freedom without
Try to catch the deluge in a paper cup
There's a battle ahead, many battles are lost
But you'll never see the end of the road
While you're traveling with me

great song  crowded house --don't dream its over

The nights are colder now.
maybe I should close the door,
And anyway the snow has
covered all your footsteps
And I can follow you no more.
The fire still burns at night,
my memories are warm and clear;
but everybody knows
it's hard to be alone at this time of year.
its a far better thing i do than i have ever done

Whiteknight, I heard your song!  I was doing a cake walk at a Christmas Fayre on Sunday and this song was on the cd and I thought "Why do those words sound familiar?"  Then I remembered it was from this thread so I looked on the cd for the title and artist.  Instead of writing it down, I figured I'd just remember it.  But do I remember it?  ???  No!  I'm thinking it was maybe called Winter Nights, but I can't remember the artist at all...  :(

A Winter's Tale by David Essex

"You were handsome
You were pretty
Queen of New York City
When the band finished playing
They howled out for more
Sinatra was swinging,
All the drunks they were singing
We kissed on a corner
Then danced through the night "
