Fairy Tale of New York - The Pogues and Kirsty MacColl

I always will remember,
'twas a year ago November,
I went out to hunt some deer
On a mornin' bright and clear.
I went and shot the maximum the game laws would allow,
Two game wardens, seven hunters, and a cow.

Tom Leher!  I've never met anybody else who's heard of him.  "People ask me how I do it, and I say there's nothing to it.  You just stand there looking cute, and when something moves you shoot!"  ;D "Plagiarize!  Let no one else's work evade your eyes!"

I've grown accustomed to the tune that
She whistles night and noon.
Her smiles, her frowns,
Her ups, her downs
Are second nature to me now;
Like breathing out and breathing in.
I was serenely independent and content before we met;
Surely I could always be that way again-
And yet

In other words, please be true,
In other words, I love you.

Fly Me to the Moon - Frank Sinatra

Oh she's wonderful, she's marvelous,
She's fabulous, she's beautiful
And anyone can understand why

 you're going back a fair bit  :D

hermans hermits OR George Formby leaning on a lampost

 something a bit seasonal

A crowded room, friends with tired eyes
I'm hiding from you and your soul of ice
I thought you were someone to rely on
Me, I guess I was a shoulder to cry on

its a far better thing i do than i have ever done

Last CHristmas-- Wham! ;D ;D

Let's dance in style, lets dance for a while
Heaven can wait we're only watching the skies
Hoping for the best but expecting the worst
Are you going to drop the bomb or not?

Forever Young.... I want to be forever young.... can't remember the name of the artist, though.... do you forgive me?

Gold teeth and a curse for this town were all in my mouth.
Only, i don't know how they got out, dear.
Turn me back into the pet that i was when we met.
I was happier then with no mind-set.

And if you'd 'a took to me like
A gull takes to the wind.
Well, I'd 'a jumped from my tree
And I'd a danced like the king of the eyesores
And the rest of our lives would 'a fared well.

OK, I guess nobody got that one?  It was the Shins... I will try again!

Like the naked leads the blind.
I know Im selfish, Im unkind.
Sucker love I always find,
Someone to bruise and leave behind.

All alone in space and time.
There's nothing here but what is mine.

Placebo - Every You, Every Me

They took all the trees - put 'em in a tree museum
And they charged the people a dollar-and-a-half just to see 'em
Don't it always seem to go that you don't know what you've got 'til it's gone?

Roll the Bones!

Fame is but a fruit tree
So very unsound.
It can never flourish
Till its stalk is in the ground.
So men of fame
Can never find a way
Till time has flown
Far from their dying day.
Forgotten while you're here
Remembered for a while
A much updated ruin
From a much outdated style.

Nick Drake  Fruit Tree

Virgil Caine is the name, and I served on the Danville train,
'Til Stonewall's cavalry came and tore up the tracks again.
In the winter of '65, We were hungry, just barely alive.
By May the tenth, Richmond had fell, it's a time I remember, oh so well,

its a far better thing i do than i have ever done

The Night They Drove Old Dixie Down - The Band

-------

Do people have a tendency to dump on you?
Does your group have more cavities than theirs?
Do all the hippies seem to get the jump on you?
Do you sleep alone when others sleep in pairs?
Well there's no need to complain,
We'll eliminate your pain.
We can neutralize your brain.
You'll feel just fine

OK, I didn't realise this would stump everyone.  It was The Big Bright Green Pleasure Machine by Simon and Garfunkel.

Hope someone knows this one:

I heard he sang a good song, I heard he had a style.
And so I came to see him to listen for a while.
