I own The Lives of Others, but I haven't watched it yet.  My husband bought it for me completely randomly.

That is an excellent film (loved it)...you will really enjoy it!  :)

Last night I watched Sense and Sensibility, a great English period film.

Oooooh, I loved The Lives of Others!!!! That was SUCH an amazing film. Another one that I really loved was The Reader. Did you like it? If you like those other films, I believe you would like it, if you haven't seen it already.

Last night we watched Miss Potter... I LOVED IT!!!!!!! (about Beatrix Potter) I just love those English period dramas (Pride and Prejudice, Brideshead Revisited, etc). Even DH really liked it, and he doesn't normally enjoy those types of films very much. It was just lovely.  :)

I haven't seen The Reader; I've been reluctant as to the subject matter, and rumor that it doesn't have a particularly nice ending.
One of the many things I adored about Lives of Others is how it concluded so absolutely beautifully, and highly satisfactorily.  That story surely could have had an unpleasant ending, but it twisted around in a lovely way.

I LOVED Miss Potter as well :)

Watch it!  Watch it!  Watch it!  It's not all what it seems to be!

K I just watched Grey Gardens (the HBO film with Drew Barrymore & Jessica Lange).
Scared the life out of me (note to self: get out of the house more!)!

Other than that, I thought it was fascinating, and want to see the original documentary.

It's really a love story. It doesn't show any Holocaust scenes or anything, only discusses it a bit. The ending is actually very poignant, I think. I thought it was very moving. Give it a try sometime!  :)

Tonight we are watching Vicky Cristina Barcelona, a friend's favourite film, so I'm looking forward to it! Will report back!  ;D

Have you seen the documentary?  I really liked the doc and am scared to watch the movie.

No; first time I heard of these two was when someone did a song from the musical in my class!
I've added it to my Netflix queue now though!  Both have had good reviews - and now I see the brothers who did the original documentary released another dvd with more footage.

Jewlz - I will definitely give The Reader a go!

I liked Vicky Cristina Barcelona, although I must admit Woody Alan isn't my all-time fave or anything.  :-\\\\ Tonight it's Slumdog Millionaire at long last.... I'm sure it will be good.

I always felt the same way but I heard him recently on the NPR Fresh Air podcast and I was really intrigued by the way he thinks.  It made me want to go back and give a few things I previously didn't like another chance.

I adore that film!  Makes you want to drink wine though...  ;)

Mary Poppins- um wow, the bf got it on his own because he thinks the "structure is amazing" (leave it to a playwright) and I cried 3 times.  Haven't seen it since I was about 12 or so, and it made my weekend.

The Wrestler- Hmmm, it grew on me. Worth renting if you have a netflix-y thing.

Frost/Nixon- Love, love, love. Go watch it now.  (IMHO)

"The Matchmaker" with Janeane Garofalo (remember her--I loved her in the 90s!).  A romantic comedy from 1997, set in the west of Ireland--I'd been trying to find it for years.
