Shoe tying rhyme?
« on: November 19, 2005, 04:24:54 PM »
The little boy I babysit for is having a really hard time trying to figure out how to tie his shoes. He's six, and his teachers want him to learn asap. I think I remember hearing a shoe tying rhyme at some point or another, but I can't remember how it goes. Does anyone know?

Loop, swoop and pull?  I think that one was in "Big Daddy"  :D

Or you could always go with the bunny ears analogy  :)

I think there is a whole little bunny ears poem that rhymes. I know I've heard it before. But I can't find it anywhere.

Over, under, around the tree...
Swing past the knothole, pull and see!

I never learned that rhyme myself...but I sadly (very sadly) remember it from watching Full House as a kid...   :-X

I remember that! I think that where I heard the bunny one too. Jesse and Joey were arguing over which would be the best one when Stephanie (or was it Michelle??) was trying to learn how to tie her shoes!

"Bunny Ears  Berry
I discovered this way of tying shoelaces by watching "Raising Helen." The story goes like this: "Make two bunny ears. The bunny runs around the tree. The bunny jumps in a hole. Close it up tight!"

This technique really works! The child doesn't need to know left from right, and all they have to remember is the story of the little bunny."

I found this on eHow.com
