Documents - how official do they have to be?
« on: December 08, 2005, 04:30:14 PM »
I'm studying abroad for just less than 6 months = I'm not applying for entry clearance beforehand.

I'm taking the following to sasify the IO that I'm a real student:
   My passport (obviously :))

Letter of acceptance from my home university into study abroad program (official)

Letter of acceptance from Lancaster University into their study abroad program (official)

An email from Lancaster saying that I've been put into the dorms for housing
(they did not send me any official paperwork on this)

   A statement from my bank
(I actually get E statements, but I'm going to the bank to have them put my account balance on letterhead and stamp it to make it more official - Hope that it's ok)

A printout of the cash balance of my online brokerage account as backup to my bank account
(I could get an official printout from them for a fee but I have to fax them with the request, etc.. so I'm hoping a printout will be ok?)

A copy of the contract for my reception next year to prove that I'm getting married in the US and I'll be leaving the UK (I don't have much else to show besides the bill for chair covers, vases or votives?!)

Question is:   for the printouts of the emails and accounts, do you all think this will be ok?  I'm a little nervous about it.  How much cash will I need in my bank account to sasify them?

Am I missing anything?  I don't know what else to take besides wedding stuff to show that I'll be leaving the UK upon completion of my studies because I'll be graduating after next semester.

17 days till I leave - I'm getting SO EXCITED!!!

i'm afraid i don't know specifically about coming over as a student, but i would be surprised if they scrutinised *that* hard for a 6 month visit. i would suggest that bring as much info/details as possible. more is definately better.

have you called or emailed your uni for advice on this?

good luck - i'm sure it'll be fine.
