Denied Entry, Future Visa
« on: December 08, 2005, 08:17:51 PM »
My predicament is this:

I have been planning on moving to the UK for sometime, to be with my boyfriend-I made a visa application, and was denied, on the grounds that the officer didn't think that I'd be leaving at expiration of my visa. Things have been up in the air as we're not quite sure what to do next. Well, I decided to go spend the holidays in England, and then come back home after the new year, and make whatever visa application, etc. etc., here in the states. I did not want to get myself in trouble, and I sure as heck didn't want to get my butt kicked out of the UK. So I arrive in Manchester, with a one way ticket, a bank statement, and a letter from my father even, just as an added assurance that I will get a ride home in January. The immigration officer basically grills me, searches my bags, makes me wait for a few hours, then tells me I'm being sent home, as she doesn't think that I'll be leaving at the end of my trip. I admit, some of the things did look pretty condemning, in retrospect- practice cover letters, and journal entries and so forth. They were all innocent on my part though, so it's incredibly frustrating. Anyhow, I'm handcuffed, detained, and send back.

Now I don't know what to do, because this pretty much black lists me when I try to get a new visa. We're considering getting married, and making a spousal visa application. I'm fully prepared to be questioned like I've never been questioned before. It's not like we don't have proof that our relationship is valid, but I'm just afraid that being denied entry is going to be a huge huge problem in getting a visa. We aren't sure what our next step should be. Any help is appreciated.

What visa application did you originally apply for?

Yes.  What form, which consulate, and scan in your NOID please...

Handcuffed?!  :o

I feel for ya. You never want to show up with a one-way ticket in that situation though. I'm sure you'll get some good advice here. I wish you luck.
