marshmallows

Are they the same texture here as in the US?

Somehow my husband ran across a recipe for Mississippi Mud Pie and wants me to make him one for Christmas. I am worried the marshmallows here [even if I avoid the pink ones] won't melt to the same gooiness that I think is required.   Has anyone tried them and they've worked?

thanks!

However, didn't someone post on here that they don't melt the same way for something like Rice Krispie Treats?

They are made differently. US ones are made with corn syrup and UK ones with glucose syrup. I do find the texture different and find the UK ones can even go a bit grainy. That said, I've never tried to melt them for something like this so you'll just have to try it and see!
When I was 5 years old, my mother always told me that happiness was the key to life. When I went to school, they asked me what I wanted to be when I grew up. I wrote down ‘happy’. They told me I didn’t understand the assignment, and I told them they didn’t understand life. ~ John Lennon
