Clams - advice needed.
« on: December 20, 2005, 03:24:05 PM »
I've bought 2 lbs of fresh clams. I can't cook them tonight. Probably not tomorrow either. Do you think they'll keep in the fridge for a few days or should I just freeze them straight away?

I'm absolutely gutted. I got home and found that every single clam had gone off.

No clam chowder for me. *sniff sniff*

Wherever did you get live clams from anyway?

The market. I saw a few open but didn't think every single one of them were. Really sucks.

But I guess thats what you get when you don't live next to the freaking coast.

Ashley wrap them in a moist towel and they'll keep fresh in the fridge for a few days, if ya freeze them they'll keep for a few months.

Aww - that sucks Ashley.  (I'm not a clam fan.)  DH bought some fresh scallops at the City Market here yesterday for our tea yesterday -- they had the 'roe' attached to them, which I've never seen before on scallops.  Normally, I like scallops but these tasted dead nasty -- far too fishy for my taste & such that I was worried about food poisoning. :(
