I'm querying for my friend, Sherry, who lives in northern California. She has a BA (Television/Radio Broadcasting w/Minor in Sociology) and is currently working in an elementary school as their EXPLORE Program Site Leader, which is an after school programme. This entails her supervising/directing a small staff of program aides, as well as facilitating activities for the students and tutoring/mentoring them. She has also worked as a substitute teacher for them.
She would very much like move to the UK to work; however, she isn't a certified teacher and has no other skills that I know of really. I've tried to do a bit of detective work and from what I can fathom is that unless she's a certified teacher, she doesn't have a chance in hell of working here. The only other option I can think of is for her to apply for a master's in education (or similar) programme here.
She definitely doesn't have enough points for the HSMG thing either.
On another note, why doesn't the US have an au pair agreement with the UK for US citizens to come here when the UK has one for UK citizens to go to the US? I think that's a bit unfair to say the least.
