ORANGE JULIUS BABY!!!!!!!!!!!!!!1
« on: May 04, 2002, 03:32:14 PM »
I mentioned in a previous thread where you can find all kind of substitute recipes for food you're missing from back home: http://www.copykat.com

Well, I just came across something I've been missing since my childhood. ORANGE JULIUS! I used to get them when I would stay with family in the South. Boy I miss them. I haven't tried the recipe yet, but I'm hopeful. I'll let you know. Try for yourself:

Ingredients:
2/3 C. orange juice concentrate
1 C. water
1 C. milk
1/2 tsp. vanilla
1/4 C. powdered sugar
6 ice cubes (approx 1 1/2 cups ice)

Preparation:
Put all ingredients in a blender, cover and blend until smooth.
Servings: 8 - 1/2 cups

Hints:
If you already have premixed orange juice, use 1 2/3 cups of that
instead of the concentrate and water. If your ice cubes are from a tray, you may want to pre-crush them a bit as the ice blends better if it isn't in too large of pieces.

Poor baby  [smiley=dozey.gif] A whole 45 min away?  [smiley=dozey.gif]

Anyway... Yeah, the recipe is pretty close. I couldn't find frozen oj concentrate and thought the real stuff would actually be better, but as we all know the frozen stuff has a different taste to it and I think this recipe really does need it.

Why Muffin is that sarcasm I detect?  [smiley=wiseguy.gif]  45 minutes is a long time for someone who can't drive and lives in a town the size of a pea who's never heard the term "public transportation".  ;)

Might try recipe tonight.  Last time I checked we had some OJ in the fridge. ... I think it's been there a while though!  :-/

Just a thought Kirk, the orange squash, High Juice, has a bit of that concentrate taste to it, possibly using half that and half real orange juice might help? Might make it worse, I dunno.  ;)

Is there any way to save these great recipes other than commenting on them - which saves them in my "posts"?
