I lived in Japan for a year, so I've eaten some pretty weird stuff.  There was a lot of pressure to 'try' everything. :-X

A good family friend taught at one of the universities in Japan for a year.  On his arrival they had a dinner in his honor - which means traditionally as guest of honor you are supposed to try each dish before the other guests.  He's not an adventurous eater (he slathers EVERYTHING in ketchup) and they served up some very "special" dishes.  The only way his host (and friend) knew he could get him to try each dish was to not tell him what it was until after he'd tried it!

As for me, I'm not one to try new foods since I've been a fairly picky eater my whole life.  The best I can think of is wild boar.  It was gamey and not my favorite, but it wasn't horrible.

Tried raccoon once - I have an uncle who's an avid hunter although I don't know if that was altogether legal. It wasn't nice. Also tried marrow (beef? lamb? don't know) in France. Surprisingly enough it wasn't bad after getting over the look of it still in the bone.
I know I'm late - where's the booze?

I love sushi and have been fairly adventurous in trying the different varieties. I think the weirdest ones would be barbecued eel, abalone, or sea urchin. I do not recommend the sea urchin. It was not nice.

You know, what I can't understand is how she could eat the thing and not have nightmares about furry little things crawling around her stomach! violent shudders

That reminds me of season 1 of The Simpsons. :)

For me, it would have to be strawberry pasta, or walnut pasta. Both very good, BTW.

Let's take our wigs off in the shopi aisle and fight it out.

Deep fried alligator... blech
Buffalo burgers.... love it
Squid... barf the texture was horrendous
Bear sausage.. very greasy, would not eat again

And that is about it for me, I am not really the adventurous food type  :P

sillysnip...I LOVE deep fried alligator(on a stick)

Hog Maw, a traditional PA Dutch meal where you take ground meat, diced potato, onion, celery and bread crumbs, lots of salt and pepper, bind w/egg yolk, stuff into a raw pig's stomach, bake...and YUM!
Some people eat the "skin", I just like the stuffing.

I have also tried ostrich meat and buffalo

I tend not to be adventurous - I haven't tried many things at all! But then I don't consider calimari or sushi to be particularly adventurous, so maybe I'm fooling myself!  :D

I got the biggest kick out of the two couples we had dinner with on New Years' Eve - the place we went had an Asian buffet - all different sorts of Asian influences - and they were all completely horrified that I liked the sushi but... it was COOKED sushi - there were two pieces of raw salmon the rest was crab and prawns!!! Oh well, more for me!  :D

I have also tried ostrich meat

Is ostrich strange?  If so, I've eaten it.  It's really good, but hard to cook since it's so lean - it dries out super fast.
