I just finished watching a Discovery Channel special on this family. They are absolutely amazing!

They do sound amazing. From what the story tells, they seem to have a loving family that is very resourceful. I think it's great! If they are able to support themselves, and all of the children, and raise them in a loving home what could be wrong with that. Sometimes when you see these types of stories, you wonder about all of the religion if it's almost cult like for some, but from what is depicted here it didn't seem that way.

No, they really didn't seem cultish at all. They have a very deep, gentle faith which was pretty amazing to watch. The family seems to be very committed to their way of life. I was incredibly impressed, especially when I found out that the mom home schools them all. Also, family rules mandate that each child learn to play two musical instruments, piano and violin.

Of course, the evil side of me wants to dislike them because they are so incredibly competent...you know, the way it's so easy to hate Martha Stewart for being so craftsy!  >:D

Look at their family web site. Their kids have no contact with anyone not exactly like them, the girls do steryotypical work around the house (cleaning, cooking, etc) and the boys do "boy work" and there were several things that just seemed a bit off.
