Where do you get your spouse visa after marriage in the UK?
« on: January 22, 2006, 09:50:14 AM »
We will be married, finally, this coming Tuesday.  I came over here on a fiance visa and will now need to get my spouse visa so I can stay and work.  Where can I find information on what and where to send my marriage certificate and passport to get the spouse visa?  I am in East Yorkshire.  I see a ton of stuff on the web pertaining to fiance visa's but not much on applying for a spouse visa once you are here.  Thanks much!!!!

Congratulations on your upcoming marriage.  Hope your all settled-in.

This is from the IND website (http://www.ind.homeoffice.gov.uk/ind/en/home/applying/application_form.html):  "Use Form FLR(M) to apply for an extension of stay in the United Kingdom as the spouse (husband or wife) or unmarried partner of a person present and settled here."
This is a link to the form:  http://www.ind.homeoffice.gov.uk/ind/en/home/applying/application_form.Maincontent.0132.file.tmp/FLR(M).pdf

I'll be doing this in 2 weeks too!

Thanks Stuzgirl.  I can't believe we have to fill out this form again, with another huge visa fee after we already gave all this information and money when we got the fiance visa.  They are really racking in the bucks on these aren't they?  I am sure the US is making a killing as well in their immigration department.  Good luck in two weeks!!!

And two years later you get to do it again!! Sorry didn't mean to depress you--- the good news is there will be a large part of the form you will be able to skip over this time since you came in on a fiancee visa.

Thanks Helena.  Yes I noticed that I will get to do this again in 2 years but at least it gives me time to get ready for it.  I just got my fiance visa the end of November and now my spouse visa the end of Jan.  Whew!!  Pricey.
Cheers....
