My favourite "chain" type place is Nando's.

Name:   Nando's
Locale:  I guess they're all over the UK.  There's one here in The Gate and one at the MetroCentre.
Type of cuisine: Portugese
What do you like best about it:  Fast service, never have to wait long for a table, good prices, good food!
Favorite dish (if any):   I almost always get chicken breast in a pitta (medium spice) w/ spicy rice, a frozen yogurt, and a diet coke.
Recommendation whilst there:  everything on the menu is good
Price range:   we usually spend about £20 for two drinks, two mains, and two frozen yogurts

-The curry house attached to the mosque in Nicolson Square
-Central Edinburgh
-AWESOME curries!
-Cheap and gorgeous food
-My fav is their chicken madras or lentil curry
-Huge plate for £3

I could eat there daily and never get bored.  Took my mom along there and we wound up coming back twice last time she was here.

Delicious.

There's nowhere near me that I'd recommend, unless you're just looking a pub meal. But one of my faves (I've been 3 times) is The Moon & Sixpence in Bath.

It's kind of a bistro-style place, not overly formal, but the food is to die for. I had an incredible wild mushroom bruschetta as an appetiser once. OMG. It was heaven. Their menu changes a lot, though, so no guarantee that it'll always be available.

It's not too pricey considering the food. Yum!

Great recommendation!  Very popular for special meals out with our "Bath" employees here. Love the name too.

No kidding! I walked by that place so many times when we lived there before and thought it looked enticing. When we move back this summer, that'll have to be the first place we try. Thanks for the heads up!

I LOVE this place!!
When I was 5 years old, my mother always told me that happiness was the key to life. When I went to school, they asked me what I wanted to be when I grew up. I wrote down ‘happy’. They told me I didn’t understand the assignment, and I told them they didn’t understand life. ~ John Lennon

Glad to be of service! Wish I could go more often. They don't take reservations and it's a small place so try to get there right when they open if you don't mind eating 6ish or whatever.

Oh, there are 3 Sam's in Fowey but this one at 20 Fore St. is the one you want.

The website made it sound as if there were 2 of them -- which was confusing enough! But thanks -- we'll get there early and go to the right one! :)

I second Las Iguanas here in Leeds.  It's a chain -- they also have locations in Bath, Birmingham, Brighton, Bristol, Cardiff, Leicester, Nottingham, and Sheffield -- according to their web site.  Happy Hour (2 for 1's) is excellent.  They have a Lunch & Early Supper special ('til 6:30) 2 courses (selected options) for about £7.  If you have a large party (10 or more) you can get a Fiesta Menu special -- 3 courses for £16.  Just went there last night for my leaving work do.

DH felt ill after eating at Caliente Cafe once, but it was the night before our wedding -- so could have just been nerves. :P

In Leeds, we also like Thai Edge, Chaophraya, Dinos -- will have a think for some others.  Like the restaurant in Haleys Hotel in Headingley -- very posh, intimate & romantic setting (very £££ too)...'cause that's where we got married.  We went there last Valentines Day -- 6 months to the day after our wedding.  They do sort of a slightly French/haut cuisine thing there.
