Cramping after pregnancy
« on: February 08, 2006, 08:42:02 PM »
Before I was pregnant I was one of the lucky ones that never cramped and never got pms. But now that I've had Courtney I'm getting horrible cramps...and as for the pms...well I'm a b*tch now [smiley=lipsrsealed2.gif]

Has anyone else had the same thing happen after pregnancy? or is it just me............

What's your birth control?  Sometimes that causes irritability and other symptoms.

might be worth asking about though.  You're a different person now. :)  Otherwise I'd reccomend Vitamin B6 or Starflower oil tablet things.

My cramps went away, but my PMS got worse.  It's the dreaded week.  I find that I only get cramps now when I'm bad and have a few cans of Coke the week before my period.  I've considered going on the pill for the pms, but last time it took 1 year to get pregnant after going off the pill that I don't want to chance it since we're thinking about another baby this fall.

You could try a different pill or look at what you're eating.  Caffee and sugar can do it as well as not enough vitamins.

My PMS got nasty after Aillidh was born.  Haven't had a period since Roisin was born, but I'm on Cezarette, which you don't take a break from, but go straight thru, so crossing my fingers, b/c the afterbirth pains w/Roisin were a b*tch from hell.

Ooh!  Ooh!  Me!

Used to have awful PMS & cramps.  The final contraction I had to get the little guy out was the last bit of pain I ever felt.  No afterbirth pains (at all!) and not one cramp in almost 2 years.  Less bleeding, too.  Shoulda' gotten knocked up years ago!! :D

I had none w/Aillidh.  Apparently they get worse w/each subsequent child.  My midwife had 5 kids.  She said by the 5th, the afterbirth pains were worse than the delivery!  :o  I don't plan to find that out for myself, tho.   ;)

After the monthly misery I suffered for 20 years, I think I deserved a little break.  And I'm enjoying every moment of it! ;D

it really took me by surprise, b/c it was one of those things no one ever told me about.  but a combination of paracetemol and ibuprofen took the pain away, and you can use both whilst breastfeeding, so it worked out.
