Tukey Roasting - How long?
« on: November 27, 2003, 01:43:40 PM »
Ok so I have Tom here and he's already to be roasted but how long do I cook him for?

It's a small turkey 5.75 lbs. (2.60 kg) on 350 F.  The package says 45 minutes!!  Is that right?  Doesn't sound right to me.  But then again, I never cooked a turkey before so what do I know.  I called the Butterball hotline in the U.S. but it won't be open for a couple more hours.

Any help here??

Hope it's not too late but here's a Turkey Calculator for you.  Just plug in the weight etc.

I got about 1 1/2 for a 6 lb turkey.

Best of luck!  :)

Aaa thank you.  I called my best friend back in NY and she said 12 minutes per pound.  So that leaves me at about one hour and fifteen minutes or so..

Thanks for the link though.  I will definitely bookmark it.

Happy Cooking

Absolutely perfect!!  [smiley=chef.gif]  If I do say so myself everything came out great.  My turkey was moist and delicious.  Guess mom's receipe worked.  All I did was throw OJ in the cavity along with some apples, oranges and lots of cognac all around in the pan, on the turkey and in the cavity too!!  We had a drunk turkey!!

I'm donating the big turkey I brought but didn't cook along with the stuffings (made way too much) and the candied sweet potatoes to the American Church in London.  It would be ashame to throw it out.  I called them and they said they would be more than happy to use it for the soup kitchen.
