Who's been to Croydon...anybody???.
« on: February 21, 2006, 02:50:27 PM »
Has anyone gone to Croydon for their ILR?  ???   Just curious to know how they are there. Going on Thursday afternoon. Ask me how I'm feeling right now. Heh. :P

are you driving or taking public transport?  my two cents- there's a food hall/mall across from croydon.  arrive a bit early and go to M&S food.  get yourself a little picnic.  bring it into the PEO.  then when you're waiting at least you can fill yourself up silly.
If you harbour bitterness, happiness will dock elsewhere.

meggles, we were thinking of driving and got the directions and everything; however, we are also thinking about taking the train. If we take the train though, we were wondering how far "Lunar House" (the home office) is from the train station. I'm wondering if I will be able to eat at all. Heh. :P

One of the things I did was to highlight in day-glow pink, yellow, and lime-green our names and dates on all our stuff. Then I decided that I wanted my DH to copy everything so we could give the copies to them; however, now I'm afraid that since I highlighted everything, the highlight will turn all my precious info black...ugh. I'm starting to really get stressed out and am overcompensating.....aarrgghhhhhh!

Yep, I agree - bring something nice to eat 'cause there's nothing even remotely appealing there. And don't plan on being in and out just because you have an appt. We got there and sailed through everything until it came to waiting for the actual passport to be handed back - and that took ALL afternoon. But everyone was reasonably nice and all in all it was pretty painless (this was for my FLR).

are you going alone?  if not, bring some cards for a nice game of war or rummy.

Yes, I've been ... it's less than pleasant, but you'll probabaly meet some interesting folks there, who are fighting for the right to stay in the UK and fearing deportation to danger back home - I found it quite a sobering experience.

Anyway, yes, get the train - Lunar House is signposted from East Croydon station and it's a 5/10 minute walk.

If you are in need of a celebration or comiseration drink afterwards, head into the town centre, there are loads of shops and cafes etc ....

Well, I figured it would be wait for the ILR because even in NYC it was a wait for my FLR.

Ugh, I'm not even going to think of a comiseration drink afterwards. Have to think positive or I will go bonkers! [smiley=bigcry.gif]

Hi Georgia,

Just wanted to say hope everything goes great for your apt. and you aren't too nervous.  Hope you can even enjoy the day somewhat.

It will be such a relief when it's all done.

Best of luck

The woman who approved ours looked like the granny from next door.  She was gone for ages when we were waiting for the passport.  She then came back with a Clover/ some plastic container full of cups of tea for her and her colleagues.  And we thought she was in the back doing something important! :)
