Edinburgh- B&B or cheap hotel?
« on: February 28, 2006, 02:02:52 PM »
Planning to do 4 or 5 nights in Edinburgh near end of March.
As I'm unemployed right now I'm looking for a nice, clean B&B ot hotel for not a lot of money.
Any one have any reccomendations, please?

it's funny as it looks like an industrial building (even the steps are metal) but the rooms are nice and BIG and really good for an extended stay!

I'm staying here in June for the marathon!  It sounded really cool and the customer service has been really good - emailing, following up.  I'm glad to hear it's a good place!

That place looks really good... not too far from Lupe Pintos, either, if anyone wants to shop for Mexican groceries!

Well, we're back and the place was lovely!  Thanks for the idea, Aimiloo.
They keep the place well-stocked.  We had a loaf of fresh bread, butter, jam and marmalade, a zillion packets of Nescafe and Nescafe decaf, a zillion PG tips tea bags, loads of white sugar, 2 pints of semi-skimmed milk, several individual packets of a good variety of breakfast cereal, and packets of biscuits waiting for us when we arrived.  The kitchen was fully equipped, washer/dryer with washing tablets supplied, dishwasher with washing tablets supplied, microwave, hob, oven, grill, pots and pans, dishes & cutlery, cooking utensils including potato masher, peeler, wine bottle opener, can opener, sharp knives, kettle. pyrex casserole dishes, colander, grater, paper towels, fresh new sponge, washing up liquid, dish cloth and tea towel.  The lounge had 2 sofas, table and 4 chairs, coffee table, cable TV, Radio,cassette/CD player. Loads of clean towels and a decent bath with strong shower, small tablets of soap, Iron and board, hairdryer, vacuum cleaner (not used by us  ;D) Bedrooms were comfy with large built-in closets with several wooden hangers, twin beds with 2 pillows on each that can be pushed together.
The apartment was very clean and the maids come in every day.  There is a secure parking lot.  The staff is helpful and friendly.
It was just super- nothing to complain about at all.
The address was 123 Grove St.  Plenty of restaurants and groceries nearby.  We ate out and also cooked in.  Both were convenient.
