LOL!  That is the only time I refuse to travel.  I used to do it from Boston to NY for 11 years and the traffic and airport were always a nightmare.  I wish it was better, I miss Thanksgiving with my family.  (I shop on-line for the sales :P  My parents always know when I am coming to visit when packages start arriving daily)  I think I might do it though sometime soon, if not this year the next.  I'll just lave a week or so before and stay a few weeks.

... we think that will probably be a place called Canadian, TX.  (Does anyone know this place?  Is there anything there??  A restaurant or something?)

I did a little search on this place, and there's a Dairy Queen, a Pizza Hut, and a steak house, so no worries!
One of the websites i saw showed a guy riding a great big longhorn cow down the middle of the road... looks like my kinda place!  ;)

We decided to give Baltimore a miss this time
Carolyn, how could you give such a great city a miss?  ::)  (speaking from a true Baltimorean)
Kansas over Baltimore?  You must really love your mom!

Oh don't get me wrong -- I think Baltimore is fine & would easily vacation in that area before I would ever go to Kansas.  But it's not really about that...in terms of the family member living in Kansas vs the ones living in Baltimore, there is no question but that I go to Kansas.  Normally, we'd try to go all four places (GA, KS, MD, FL) in two weeks -- but it ends up being more tiresome, than fun...so we decided to do it differently this time.

And yeah -- going to Kansas is all about love, and duty.  Mom has been ill for nearly 30 years (since I was 12) & she now lives a very vulnerable, entirely incapacitated life.  I feel guilty enough only getting to see her once or twice a year!  It's sad and no fun to be there, but it's just one of those things. :-\\\\

I'm heading back to the States this summer too...and dragging along my bf (actually he better be my fiance by that point)...we're doing - NYC (for fun), PA (dad, step-mom, sis-in-law, bro, friends), Boston (friends), DC (friends), Denver (Bestest friend & her hubby), Sante Fe (fun) and Albuquerque (fam reunion with mom & her fam)...it's going to be crazy and we've been trying to save as much as we can (though with the heaters & shower broken within one week it's not helping)...lots of travel within the US which will be expensive.

Good god!  And I thought our trips were busy.  How long have you allotted for all that?  I think you win the prize, thus far. :)

(My best deal on all the airfare is booking direct with the airline all on one itinerary.)

I love Colorado, and Santa Fe & Albuquerque!  We were going to do a sidetrip to NYC if we went to Baltimore this time, but decided to whittle the stops down instead of increasing their number...we only have two weeks though.

Here's our trip:

June 24 - fly into NYC
June 27 - bus to northeastern PA (it's the only economical way unless one of my family wants to drive to NYC to pick me up, which I know they don't want to do)
July 1 - rent car, head to Boston
July 4 - take train to DC
July 7 - fly to Denver
July 10 - rent car, head to Santa Fe
July 11 - head to Albuquerque
July 15 - fly to NYC and on to London (we'll probably kill each other by the end of so much flying!)

got my tickets to New York City which I've not been to in ages. ..I'll meet my mum there and I'm taking her to see the Wedding singer along with some friends of mine which I've not seen in  7 years! I'll also meet up with some forum folk from Coney Island and I've been invited to participate in a mermaid wedding ..lol!! should be an interesting visit. ;D
But never fear, gentlemen; castration was really not the point of feminism, and we women are too busy eviscerating one another to take you on.

No, you'll drop dead of exhaustion first! :)  We have done this whistlestop tour a few times now, enough to know that we want to stay put longer in each of the places vs a night here, a night there.  It got to be too much for this old lady! :P

Oh I am jealous of those of you going to NYC - I have never been!  And it's one of the places that DH is really interested in going...maybe our next trip.
