When does school generally start?
« on: March 14, 2006, 06:29:04 PM »
Hi guys,

This really is a basic question, when does University generally start: in September or October? I've applied to PGCE programmes at Middlesex, Brighton, Goldsmiths, and Cambridge (the long shot choice.) However, I am also trying to plan for a trip to Oz (Australia) in late August and/or September.

Cheers,

Uni's usually start mid September.  Do remember that school is always school.  University and college are never  called school.  If you say school people will think you're talking about primary or secondary school.   :)

I start in Oct., but I understand that is really late.

Let's take our wigs off in the shopi aisle and fight it out.

I started the first week of October.
Love your life, poor as it is. You may perhaps have some pleasant, thrilling, glorious hours, even in a poorhouse. The setting sun is reflected from the windows of the almshouse as brightly as from the rich man’s abode; the snow melts before its doors as early in the spring. Cultivate property like a garden herb, like sage. Do not trouble yourself much to get new things, whether clothes or friends. Turn the old; return to them. Things do not change; we change. Sell your clothes and keep your thoughts…

The uni I'll (hopefully) be going to next year starts the last week of September, with orientation a week before that.

if it's on a semester system, it'll be second or third week in september.  if it's on terms (what's called a 'quarter' system in the US), first week in october.

you should be fine to go to oz in aug. but sept. could be dodgy if you're applying to any semester based school.

I start September 25th, but apparently there's an orientation on the 22nd.
