content insurace/renters insurance recommendations
« on: March 15, 2006, 12:46:33 PM »
We're getting ready to move to the UK and will be renting a furnished flat. Can anyone recommend who to contact for content insurance or what we would call "renter's insurnance"? We have computer equipment, electronics, our clothes, etc that I want to get insured. Everyone we call seems to not offer renter's insurance since the place is furnished. Any advice?

Thanks! :)

I use Endsleigh, as they are more flexible about issues such as sharing with non-family and having specific items, and I imagine they are more flexible about residency requirements as they specialise in helping students (including overseas students).  I think that STA have an insurance arm as well, and as a travel company they will certainly be helpful on this score.

we use volvo owners insurance for cars and renters insurance. you shouldn't worry about whether your flat is furnished or not, because the contents of the flat won't be in your policy as you don't own them. you just give the company a list and an amount that you want covered. your landlord would be responsible for insuring his things.
