Whole Foods coming to London!

I am so jealous of you who will have easy access to this! Not sure when it opens... anyone know?

When I was 5 years old, my mother always told me that happiness was the key to life. When I went to school, they asked me what I wanted to be when I grew up. I wrote down ‘happy’. They told me I didn’t understand the assignment, and I told them they didn’t understand life. ~ John Lennon

I thought it already was in London. Fresh & Wild is owned by Whole Foods, so I guess that's what I was thinking of. Apparently, all new F&W shops will now be called Whole Foods, but they're leaving the existing shops with their old F&W name.

I am jealous, though. Whole Foods used to be my regular supermarket in the US and I really miss it. I ventured to Bristol just before Christmas on one of my cross-country jaunts, and stopped in at their Fresh & Wild. It was sooo disappointing. Really small with not much of a selection of anything. I guess I was expecting a huuuuge Whole Foods type store. Hopefully the new London one will be good!

According to the Independent, it's "next year." I wish it was a Trader Joes! :)

I actually dream I'm in Whole Foods Cherry Creek - Denver, doing some shopping.  I used to refill my gallon jug of Dr. Bronner's Peppermint Soap there.  Ah, bliss!

Whole Foods stores in UK?
« Reply #10 on: March 24, 2006, 02:23:19 AM »
Hi, I'm planning to move to London (via northern Ireland once my visa situation is settled...of course..) with the love of my life soon!  I was on the Whole Foods website the other day and noticed that they had 6 stores in various areas of London as well as a store in Bristol.

This was great news for us as we LOVE the deli, bakery, etc. at Whole Foods!  I find that even here in the US they stock a lot of unique and thoroughly tasty products that are difficult to find elsewhere.  It can be expensive but bargains do abound.

So, anyone here who has been to the UK Whole Foods?  Let me know what you think!

Thanks!
S

I haven't seen any Whole Foods stores in London (I'm still pining for the days they were called Bread and Circus). But I think you'll find the average supermarket in the UK is more like Whole Foods than Whole Foods ever was. If you know what I mean.

i'd be chuffed if they sold dr. bronner's peppermint liquid soap in a shop.  or silk soy products.  i'm not holding my breath, though.
