Twinkie Myths
« on: March 25, 2006, 10:22:02 AM »
Well I couldn't be bothered reading through all the posts to see if anyone had posted anything about Twinkies... but I have a rather unique urban myth about Twinkies needs clearing up. I have recently returned from the great land of Arkansas bearing gifts for the untwinkified. So many TWINKIES. So I handed them all out. Everyone was pleased. It came to my attention through a food conscious New Yorker (my sole American comfort) that Twinkies are flamable! 'What?' says I. 'Yes they are flamable' And used that as an excuse to not eat them. Now ok so maybe they are flamable (I have not tried to light one on fire... altho I do have one in the cupboard ready to sacrafice its life for science) but aren't MOST foods flamable? I mean think about it you could theoretically set um... asparagas on fire. Or a turkey breast? Is that a reason not to eat something? I mean... humans are flamable. But you know there are still cannibals out there.

Anyway if you know anymore twinkie myths please care to share!

No offense to your friend, but that is so hilariously stupid, it made my morning. I want the bumper sticker.

NO TWINKIES
(because they're flammable)

And, yes, food is flammable. Have you ever seen Mister Wizard check the caloric value of a food by setting fire to it?

Yea I don't care for them either but... you know if worse came to worse. Well I'd take the twinkie over my own body parts.

That's how you scientifically count calories of energy in food-by setting it on fire.  They're all flammable.

-says the girl who had way too much fun in High School Chemistry setting things ablaze.

I've always been suspect of Twinkies since Dan White and the Twinkie Defense.  Anyone remember that?   [smiley=shifty.gif]

Oh, yes.  I don't remember it, but I know the story.  The Dead Kennedys had a song about it.

I don't think you can grow up in California and NOT know that story.  However, out of curiosity I looked it up on Snopes... and it's not true.  Interesting.
