Topic: Which hotel? Flying into Gatwick and out of Heathrow next morning  (Read 1156 times)

Just curious if anyone would know a hotel, or at least a location of a hotel for someone flying into Gatwick late Sunday night but then out of Heathrow early the next day.  Just thinking somewhere in-between the two, or somewhere in London that is not too far from either.  Thanks.  Hope this post was clear enough.

Sorry, but I'm not up on my London hotels. But, thinking logistically, if it were me, I'd prefer to be at a hotel near Heathrow if it's an early flight.

These airports are miles apart gatwick is one side of London and Heathrow is just outside the other way so hiring a car would be the cheapest way a taxi would cost from waterloo which is sort of central £30/40. You could see if there is a transfer from Gatwick to Heathrow and from what Chris's father said they are bit expensive, you can pick up an hotel room for around £60 in Waterloo.

Good luck

Hmm, well there are two of them, so maybe the taxi is not such a bad idea split. (They are NYers too, used to taxi's ;D)  I'll have a look in the Waterloo area, thank you!

Look at the Arora hotel site;
www.arorainternational.com We use the Gatwick/Crawley one as our crew hotel and they are pretty reasonable. I've not stayed at the Heathrow ones, but that might be something to consider.

There are coaches from Heathrow to Gatwick, which I always think is the best idea.  Then pick a hotel near Heathrow.  I think that National Express run the coaches.

Yeah, there are national express buses from each airport. We did this for a friend and the ride is about an hour and 15 minutes and only cost about £12. A taxi is going to be quite costly.

Thank you, OK, question, do they have these buses at midnight when they come in?

Looks like the buses run 24 hours and fairly often. A little over an hour for the trip.

We spent one night at the Ibis near Heathrow because I had an early flight out next morning (and Himself hasn't seen the sunny side of noon in decades). Everyone said Ibis was a great chain for business travelers, but the one near H'row is a crap-hole. It was relatively cheap, but the room was barely big enough for the bed, and the cable TV didn't work.

So I stole the spoon with my tea next morning. He was sure I was going to prison or to hell or something. I have a passion for those little teeny British tea spoons. And now I have one to remember the Ibis by. Ah, memories.

We ate at the Tudor McDonald's down the street that night. Tudor. McDonald's. I love England.
