Pass it forward
« on: March 28, 2006, 01:01:12 PM »
I am being Chatty Cathy today aren't I?!?!?!

I really enjoyed doing the mystery gift last year...an I thought about seeing if anyone wanted to do it again..but then thought about something we did on my scrapbooking forum...

you state a object that you have that you don't want or might have to much of..in this case I think American items would be good...and someone says oooh I will have that...and then they put something on the table so to speak...

but then I thought this might be tricky as something REALLY good more than one person would want it and a fight would ensue...LOL

anyone got any other suggestions..or even go back to the mystery person &Gift.....

i don't know the rules in regards to the mystery gift, but i like your new idea.  i'm assuming that since you posted it under "food talk" that you are referring to trading american food products?

for instance, if i had a bag of cheetos that i was willing to part with, i could post it up for grabs and the first person to respond that they want it would get it?  am i understanding this right?  (btw...i don't have a bag of cheetos up for grabs...so don't go getting excited  :P)

Oooh, that sounds like fun! I think I understand it the same way you do, caligirl. If it were "first come, first served," it seems that would avoid any fighting over items! :D

Yep that is the kinda thing I am talking about........

Like I have a jar of Fluff..and I have flavoured bisquick...and a I could make up a bag of assorted candies.......

so I would put something forward like that........and then the person that wanted it would say yes I will have that and then they put something forward..and it ends when I say I want something...

then someone else could start it off again...and it keeps goin around...the only problem would be if someone put something forward no one wanted.........then after a few days you might have to change your offered item to get it going again......

But yes it would def be first come first serve and I think you would have to limit it to taking something only once...even tho something better might come along.......thems the breaks!!!

we did a "try something new" thing at our development session...we brought something that we liked and exchanged it with someone that had something we've never tried before. I brought some Puerto Rican coffee and I exchanged for a bag of some yummy japanese yakisoba noodles and some Pocky almond sticks ..they were actually yummy. We're supposed to do it again in sept and I haven't a clue what to exchange...I hope someone brings in some lumpia ..I've not had any in ages :(
But never fear, gentlemen; castration was really not the point of feminism, and we women are too busy eviscerating one another to take you on.

I can't imagine cheesy bisquick, but it sounds super yummy!! Is it expensive getting it from cybercandy? I've not really looked round the site.....(kinda afraid to) ::)

yeah there are a bit..but i suppose if you way up the cost of shipping things from the USA it works out maybe a bit cheaper.......i think they prey on ppl being desperate for taste of "home"

on things like cereal they are really high...on some thing I don't think they are to bad!
