Is this one OK?
« on: April 04, 2006, 10:26:30 AM »
I think we'll take it.  It's boring, and a bit pricey, but at least there's no furniture and the walls aren't yellow/violet/other monstrous colours.

Is the neighborhood OK?

I have relatives in that road!  It's a lovely neighbourhood.  Traffic on Kew Bridge is ghastly.

Nice place, nice area but the rent is excessive! how many bedrooms does it have? it should have at least 3 for that rent.

A 3 bedroom house in that area is going to be very expensive, is it terraced, a semi or detached?
At nearly the equivalent of $3000/month it's pricy!  But I guess you can beat the location near the Thames and in Chiswick.

Well, I can't give any more info... all I've seen is the same webpage I've posted here.

3 bedrooms, but one is more of a closet.  From the pics, it appears to be attached to at least one other house... but not sure.

My husband is in London now, and is getting really tired of hunting for a house.  Especially as I've vetoed a few... (the agent was really pushing flats.)

Good to know the area is OK, though!  Thanks!

If our offer is accepted, you all know our address now, too.  Presents can be delivered as of May 1st.

Hiya!

From the Pic it's a semi detached house with 3 bedrooms. The 3rd bedroom is really a closet, you'll probably only just get a single bed in there and it's only saving grace is that it has a built in small wardrobe. For £380pw or £1520 a month does it include Council Tax, electric and Gas? or is it 'just' the rental cost? Also, the garage may be 'linked' to another garage and the other houses (probably semi detached' are there - but it's difficult to be certain from that little photo.

The general area of Kew is very nice indeed, from my Autoroute map, I see it's on the 'north side' of the river so not on the 'Kew' side. The busy M4/North & South Circular roads are easy to get to and I know the routes very very well indeed seeing as im driving along so often!

I understand how finding a place is very frustrating and maybe Hendy could give you more detailed knowledge of the actual road/area/actual house. My first impression is that at £1520 a month, it's very very expensive for that general area, but maybe thats the going rate. Chiswick, Ealing and Kew are you immediate areas, and all three are very nice indeed.

Good luck !

I am going to borrow this thread...

Does anyone live/work in Swiss Cottage in St. Johns Wood? Is it safe/nice? I found a really pretty flat online, but I have only been to nearby Maida Vale. I am wondering if it's worth a look.  :)

Thanks :)

Let's take our wigs off in the shopi aisle and fight it out.

Swiss Cottage is a very nice area, especially if you are on the SJW or Belsize park sides.

Well... after the BBC report (last week?) about Foxtons... our company doesn't want to deal with them.

Looking for a new agency now.. and it's a very real possibility I'll have to ship off all the house with 'To:  London area, not sure exactly where' on the packing slips.

I thought about that BBC report when I saw this. I wouldn't deal with them either. No doubt most of them do these kinds of things but it did look like they were doing a heck of a lot more of it. I suppose renting from them would be safer than buying but still...

Thanks Britwife :)

You were right, it is a very nice area. I am considering the flat which is very nice and modern- I would be the first person to live in it.

Good news is I may be able to move at the end of this month rather than the end of next month  :D

£380 per week!   :o  :o

I've just been reminded of why I would never even consider moving back anywhere in or around London.
