« on: May 13, 2006, 08:42:39 PM »
SO HERE IT GOES.....

We have proof that Neil has a job when we go back to scotland.

I have my proof of hairdressing training.

Birth certificates.

Marriage Liscence.

Wage slips on both parts.

3,000 untouched in my Bank account. Bank Statement.

£800+ in his account.

Proof of mortgage and letter stating that we are allowed to live at his mothers address.

Job company referance.

Job applications from Scotland for myself.

Passport photos.

Anything else we should have or any helpful hints on questions asked.

When is the best time to get an appointment?

and should we bring our Itinerary? We have not booked our flights yet.

neil is staying 84 days in America with me.

Without a job.

Please any information i would love!  :)

Don't forget your Passports, and your letters of intent.  I had loads of other stuff like photos of us together, cards and emails, but wasn't asked for that.  You're better off having more than you think you'll need, just to be safe.  The experience for me was much better than anticipated.  Best wishes to you both.

I'd have more than one bank statement too.  I think I sent in 3 or 4 months worth to show I had a steady income and didn't live beyond my means.

You can only book appointments 2 weeks ahead of when you want to go to the consulate.  When you travel is up to you but you'll need to tell the consulate when you plan to travel as that will be the start date on your visa.  You won't be asked for an itinerary.
Love your life, poor as it is. You may perhaps have some pleasant, thrilling, glorious hours, even in a poorhouse. The setting sun is reflected from the windows of the almshouse as brightly as from the rich man’s abode; the snow melts before its doors as early in the spring. Cultivate property like a garden herb, like sage. Do not trouble yourself much to get new things, whether clothes or friends. Turn the old; return to them. Things do not change; we change. Sell your clothes and keep your thoughts…

I think the most recent 3 months for both is considered standard.  Note there are some other messages in this forum that a printout of your internet account balance is not acceptable.  It needs to be your "official" bank statements.  Now I only get electronic versions, but I printed out the "official" statement, not just a printout of my account balance pages and they were fine with it.

I had original statements from my bank up until the current month, because it was in the mail so I asked the bank to print me a copy.  Then, I just explained why and that was fine with the IM.

Yeah, better to fill it out online.  Then you won't make mistakes.  Don't forget to bring a copy!  They will look at both.  You can fill out a paper copy by hand, but then the IO won't have it electronically in front of them and the process will take longer.  If you don't have it filled out by the appointment time, they are likely to cancel your appointment (or at least those are the threats on the posted signs).

Just because you aren't asked for it doesn't mean you shouldn't volunteer it.  Found this out the hard way...
